Hanaa Kamel

Many factors combine to make a truly great company. However, at the center of any outstanding organization, whatever its size, you will find its most valuable and important asset - people. Over the last decade there has been a revolution in the workplace. Now that women make up almost half our workforce at tkIS Egypt, the relationship between work and family life has altered dramatically and the world of work must catch up.

Hanaa Kamel started her journey at tkIS Egypt in 2009 as Project Manager assistant for 4 years. During this period Hanaa made a huge transformation in her career. With her potential and the encouragement of her manager, she was able to develop her leadership skills significantly. Hanaa studied crisis management, planning, leadership and project management professional. This gave her the opportunity to lead the MCI project, which comprised the upgrade of an existing caustic soda and chlorine plant by installing the single element Generation VI of tk Uhde Chlorine Engineers (tkUCE). tkIS Egypt's scope of work included the construction activities for the equipment supplied by tkUCE as well as the inland transportation and local supplies covering the erection works. The project was successfully completed 3 months ahead of schedule – something to be very proud of. Hanaa and her team proved their potential during every milestone they achieved.

No matter how many challenges we faced, we stood up together, continued and ending it with the whole team support and cooperation.

Her achievements took Hanaa to another level and with new expectations from tkIS Egypt management team. She was chosen to lead the EPC project for a new propane tanks for our customer EPPC, which was an extension to the existing PDH/PP complex that tkIS realized previously. The project scope comprised two new propane tanks each with capacity of 17,250 m3 and the connection to the existing storage facilities. A lump sum turnkey contract, so full responsibility. During the project the team faced a lot of challenges in the execution, but still they managed to complete it with good results and are currently waiting for the final acceptance.

Hanaa, now 60 years old, managed to have a satisfying work life balance while having raised 2 kids with her beloved husband. When we asked Hanaa what was the main reasons behind your success, she replied:

My small family is the main reason behind my success. Also staying positive and eager makes our dreams come true.

She says she is also inspired by the quote: "It’s not what you achieve, it’s what you overcome. That’s what defines your career!"
