Multipacksilo

There is a series of raw meals that become segregated in a tangential blending silo. This is often the case if the raw meal has a high quartz content. The multipack silo patented by thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions can then be used. It consists of 6–10 individual silos in which there is a mass flow, i.e. the raw meal leaves the silo in the same state as when it was fed into it. The blending effect of a multipack silo is achieved by filling the individual silos consecutively and discharging from all of the individual silos simultaneously. The blending effect of a multipack silo is lower than that of a tangential blending silo, but this blending effect is irrespective of the raw meal and of the filling level in the silo.

As the multipack has a modular design, individual silos can be added later. In the individual silos, it is also possible to store raw meals with different chemical compositions which are then mixed with one another later in such a way that it is possible to react quickly to, for example, changing fuel properties, such as the ash content. The multipack silo therefore stands out due to its high level of operational flexibility.
