Crushers are machines designed to reduce large rocks into smaller rocks, gravel, sand or rock dust.. They are predominantly used for the production of crushed mineral materials from stones.
In contrast, mills are referred to when the target particle size is to be in the fine or ultra-fine range. Usually, this limit is seen at a target grain size in the range of 1 mm to 10 mm. Crushers are most widely used in the industrial processing of mineral raw materials, see quarry, lime works, gravel works, mining, and of secondary materials, see recycling, construction waste. Crushers can be stationary or mobile (on wheels or on crawlers).
Areas of application
Production of sand, gravel, chippings and crushed stone in quarries and gravel pits
Processing of ores, salts, coal, minerals in mines
Coal preparation in power plants
Processing of solids in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry
Processing of cement
Processing of secondary building materials, e.g. concrete recycling
