Multiple Shaft Preheater
The art of modernizing lime kilns
This plant combines process steps for drying, preheating and precalcination of coarse limestone into one aggregate before its product is fed into a rotary kiln for final calcination. The exhaust gas from the rotary kiln’s burning process is led through the preheater and transfers its heat to the packed bed of limestone in countercurrent flow.
Installing a shaft preheater significantly reduces the specific energy consumption of the kiln and intensifies the kiln’s specific utilization, which is higher production.
New lime plants as well as revamps of existing plants are possible. Revamps of the preheater are installed above the rotary kiln while still in operation for minimizing the effort for connecting works thus production loss.
