Operation & Maintenance Training for Industrial Process Plants

O&M Training for process industrial plants

thyssenkrupp Uhde supports customers in organizing and conducting training for operation and maintenance (O&M) staff.

As a first step, we recommend assessing the qualifications and experience of the customer’s employees against the industrial benchmark. This will enable us to draw up a tailored training program comprising theoretical and practical elements delivered by our experienced professionals.

The range of training elements typically includes:

  • Theoretical training (classroom): Training in the basics of operation and maintenance and a basic knowledge of various technical disciplines

  • Practical training (on the job): Our experienced professionals provide support to our customers' operation and maintenance staff in a wide range of maintenance (use of tools, repair, failure analysis) and operation (process monitoring, start-up and shutdown, control systems) activities

  • Learning management system: An online learning management system (LMS) integrates classroom, practical and e-learning sessions into a single learning platform. An online system allows for self-paced learning at convenient times, which increases user acceptance. The LMS is also the basis for pre and post-training assessments.

  • Operator training simulator: By simulating the plant processes, this computer-based training tool enables the continuous training of control room operators as well as new employees and helps to familiarize them with all process scenarios.

  • Training facility : Full-time theoretical and practical training for our customers' personnel in a dedicated training facility

Our training programs offer standard and customized training modules for various disciplines such as:

  • Operation (standard operating procedures, process parameters, troubleshooting, occupational health and safety, process safety)

  • Mechanical (basics, screws, bolts, torque, welding, hydraulics, pipe joints, electro-pneumatics, occupational health and safety, process safety)

  • Electrical (switchgears, electrical drives, occupational health and safety, process safety)

  • Instrumentation (pressure/level/flow/temperature measurement, valves, occupational health and safety, process safety)

To ensure that the training is a success, we typically test and certify each participant after the training.

The time required for adequate training depends on the scope of the training and the current skill level of the personnel to be trained. The duration of the training may vary from days to weeks depending on the program selected and whether the program takes place on site and/or off site.

Your advantages:

  • Transfer of know-how to your staff

  • Well-trained staff increase the performance of your plant and process efficiency

  • Training materials can be used again for future internal training programs
