Major body assembly line order from Audi
thyssenkrupp System Engineering to supply floor assembly line for an Audi model
thyssenkrupp System Engineering has received its biggest ever body assembly line order from AUDI AG. The company is to supply a floor assembly line for a model manufactured at Audi’s Neckarsulm site.
Bernd Becker, CEO of thyssenkrupp System Engineering: “In the area of BIW, our product portfolio ranges from the joining of individual parts to sub-assemblies to the assembly of complete bodies and add-on parts. The new order marks a further milestone in the longstanding partnership between Audi and thyssenkrupp. The close proximity of our Heilbronn site to the Audi plant in Neckarsulm offers numerous advantages.”
Audi will operate the new line, in which employees will be assisted by more than 600 robots, over several floors. The vehicle floor comprises the center panel, front end, back end and bottom section. The steel and aluminum parts will be joined by various methods such as resistance spot welding, bonding, riveting, bolting, arc welding etc.
