Major cement plant order
thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions to build turnkey cement plant in Algeria – contract value in the mid three-digit million euro range
thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions, the thyssenkrupp Group’s plant engineering specialist, has received an order to build a cement clinker production line in Algeria. The customer is Société des Ciments de Ain El Kebira (SCAEK), a subsidiary of Algerian cement manufacturer Groupe Industriel des Ciments d’Algérie (GICA). The value of the contract is in the mid three-digit million euro range. The new 6,000 tons per day cement clinker plant will be built in Ain El Kebira, around 300 kilometers east of Algiers near the provincial capital Setif. Start-up is planned for 2016.
Dr. Hans Christoph Atzpodien, CEO of thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions: “The order validates our strategy of combining technological expertise with a strong presence in the world’s growth regions. We profit from infrastructure expansion in the emerging markets and, with our engineering expertise, help serve rising global demand for capital goods, energy and raw materials in a resource-friendly way.”
The order includes the supply of key components for operations including raw material processing, clinker manufacture and cement loading, the installation of a laboratory automation system for quality assurance and monitoring, and the turnkey handover of the plant to the customer.
The key components are a 2,000 ton per hour crusher for limestone and marl, a 500 ton per hour crusher for aggregates, and a 50,000 ton capacity circular blending bed. Raw materials will be ground in two POLYSIUS QUADROPOL QMR2 roller mills (throughput 350 tons per hour), and a 30,000 ton homogenizing silo will be used to store raw meal.
The kiln line comprises a five-stage, two-string PREPOL AS preheater, a 5.2 x 78 meter rotary kiln, and a POLYSIUS POLYTRACK cooler with intermediate crusher. Cement grinding will be carried out in three ball mills with high-efficiency SEPOL separators (5 x 14.5 meters, 6,000 kilowatt central drive). Four storage silos each with a capacity of 20,000 tons of cement, four packaging lines, and six automatic and two manual loaders round out the plant. The POLYSIUS POLAB laboratory automation system will be installed for quality monitoring and control.
