- Modular plant concept allows fast, low-cost installation and reduces project risks
- Commissioning of new chlor-alkali plant expected in second quarter of 2022

Skid mounted chlorine plant in Brazil
thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions has secured a contract with Serba Dinamik International for the engineering and procurement of a new modular chlor-alkali plant. The greenfield plant with a capacity of 90 tons of chlorine per day will be built in the Hazarasp Free Economic Zone in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
This is the second order that thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions has received from Serba Dinamik, strengthening the partnership between both companies. The new plant will produce, inter alia, caustic soda (NaOH) flakes, liquid chlorine and sodium hypochlorite, mainly for the export market. The start-up is planned for the second quarter of 2022.
Denis Krude, CEO of thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers: “We are delighted to see already the second order from Serba Dinamik for our modular chlorine plants. Following a previous project in Tanzania, this new order reflects the customer’s trust in our technology and global project execution capability. It is also a proof that demand for easy to install solutions and local chlorine supply is rising.”
To meet this demand thyssenkrupp has developed a standardized skid-mounted chlor-alkali plant. The modular plant concept significantly reduces construction work and allows fast, simple and low-cost installation. The complete chlorine plant is prefabricated in modules which only need to be set up and connected to each other on site. With this approach, project risks and duration can be reduced significantly. The high energy efficiency of the electrolysis cells results in a light ecological footprint, and the process is based on a close to zero emissions design.
Within the Hazarasp project, Serba Dinamik takes care of civil and erection works, electrical engineering and supply of a 26 MW Power plant, plus offsite facilities. “This plant will be the first foreign investment in the Hazarasp area, and will contribute to job creation and the industrialization of the region”, stated Dato’ Dr. Ir. Hj. Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah, CEO of Serba Dinamik.
